Delayed honeymoon... Amazing decision for us!

I'm currently loving our decision to wait a few weeks before our honeymoon.  I work in sales, and leaving the office for any amount of time can be stressful.  We initially decided to postpone our honeymoon so that I could wrap up my sales season, but this decision ended up being amazing for so many other reasons.

Firstly, we got sick right after the wedding!  We're not too old to party, but we're surely too old to recover.  The six hour car ride back to our home the day after the wedding was borderline painful.  We kept thinking how hard a flight would have been.  After returning to Boston, we were both sick for two days: Sore throat, low fever, fatigue... definitely in no shape to enjoy a honeymoon.

Secondly, we still have something wedding-related to look forward to!  The wedding festivities made us so happy, and the fun hasn't ended yet.  We leave for Paris and Barcelona in mid-June, and we have a little time to enjoy being newlyweds in our home before then.

Finally, we didn't have to plan a honeymoon in the midst of wedding planning!  Sure, we made sure to book our flights and accommodations in December.  Beyond that, we're currently flying by the seat of our pants.  (This is probably why I coordinate events instead of vacations.)  The best part?  Being unplanned is totally okay as of now, because we have a few weeks to figure out details.

Of course, the most important thing to remember is that we're building a marriage, not a wedding (or honeymoon!)  So don't be afraid to wait a while before your honeymoon.  Whether it's for financial or pragmatic reasons, it can be a great option.

Lisa

Wedding Day Recap

It's been almost a week since our wedding, and I'm still on cloud nine!  I can't believe we had such a smooth day with our amazing friends and family.  Many thanks to our venue (www.susquehannachef.com), our florist (www.thedetailsmatter.net) and our DJ (www.frankiecarll.com).

One of my friends sweetly described me as "the calmest bride ever"... While I can't compare myself to other brides, I can certainly say that I felt very calm.  All the planning was definitely worth it!

The purpose of this blog is to keep you up-to-date on new wedding trends and ideas.  There will be plenty of DIY tips for my thrifty bride friends as well.  My full website is under construction, so this is my home on the web for now.

Are you in the greater Boston area and interested in a Day of Coordinator (DOC) for your wedding?  I'd love to use my years of event planning experience to make your special day a flawless experience. I'm booking through Mid-July, so don't hesitate to get in touch!
